Lui is responsible for our retail leasing practice, and has extensive experience in conducting numerous large due diligence investigations for buyers and sellers in relation to industrial property, commercial property, redevelopments of major retail and CBD sites and the leasing and management of large retail centres and office buildings.
Lui has acted on a number of large infrastructure projects, both on behalf of government and private enterprise. Lui also takes a keen interest in pharmacy law, acting for a number of pharmacists in the sale and acquisitions of pharmacies. Lui has also recently been involved in Australia’s emerging build-to-rent (BTR) market, having acted on a number of BTR transactions and developments.
Lui has an excellent record of achieving commercial results for clients, particularly where complex legal issues are involved. Lui is known for his plain English style and commerciality. In addition, he has a number of private property logistics clients who have also been very active in recent years. Lui continues to act for a majority of Australia’s largest shopping centre owners and managers including AMP, 151 Property, GPT Group, Stockland and Vicinity Centres, which has led to his involvement in the most significant shopping centre redevelopments in the last 5 years including Karrinyup Shopping Centre, Booragoon Garden City, The Glen and Mandurah Forum Shopping Centre.
Since 2016, each year Lui has been nominated and selected as a Best Lawyer in Leasing Law and Real Property Law, and was named Lawyer of the Year in the field of Leasing Law in the 2023 edition, by Best Lawyers Australia. He has also been recognised as a recommended lawyer in the Doyle’s Guide listing of Leading Leasing Lawyers in Victoria for 2018, and as a leading lawyer in the 2020 edition. Lui has also been listed in the Chambers & Partners 2020 and 2021 Asia Pacific editions as a Recognised Practitioner in Real Estate.
