Ian is a partner of Lavan, an independent law firm in Perth operating in association with Gadens.

Ian is the lead partner of the Education & Employment team at Lavan and practises primarily in employment and workplace relations and the education sector. He is recognised in the area of employment by Chambers Asia Pacific. He has been involved in small and large industrial disputes and restructuring projects.

Ian is experienced in drafting, negotiating and interpreting industrial awards, enterprise bargaining and anti-discrimination law.

Ian has represented employers from the public and private sectors in the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, Fair Work Australia, Equal Opportunity Commission, Australian Human Rights Commission and courts on matters including unfair dismissals, contractual disputes, award breaches and discrimination and disability claims. Ian also provides advice to employers on occupational safety and health issues in the workplace.
